US M113A3
Brian Eberle | Academy #13211
The M113A3 was a major modernization of the U.S. Army’s M113 armored personnel carrier, introduced in the late 1980s. Improvements included a more powerful diesel engine, upgraded transmission, external fuel tanks, enhanced steering and braking, and provisions for additional armor. Normally armed with a .50-caliber M2 machine gun, the M113A3 offered better mobility, survivability, and reliability than earlier versions. It served in numerous roles, including troop transport, command, ambulance, mortar carrier, and battlefield support.
This model will be an Engineer Squad carrier with full equipment layout set in the late 1990s. The vehicle is from the 16th Engineer Battalion, 1st Brigade, 1st Armored Division based in Germany.
